The updates do not work, Lenovo site states Windows 10 downloads and about 10 different downloads which I think is incorrect as this is using Chrome OS Make it totally confusing. Also keys type by them selves adding several extra keys and Google Chrome Support said it was a lenovo Hardware issue? I am still under warranty and want to return this ideapad ir get it fixed but Lenovo does not make it easy on there site. What should I do? F8 gives windows startup options. Some win8 licensed machines came with win8 and some were downgraded to win7, but all would have been activated. F11 will restore, but it sounds like somebody installed an incorrect copy of windows, which might have overlaid the restore partition. In that case, you will need to buy a copy of windows from Lenovo or elsewhere.

The user manual certainly doesn't tell you to press the button as it doesn't exist.
You are supposed to use the ThinkVantage software to create recovery media. You could just reinstall the Windows version you have previously installed. Thanks for replying. I didn't have the user manual. Maybe it's on the notebook as PDF but no access without the password of course. Not a good design I think but this way I was finally able to do the factory reset. That design is actually standard on halfway modern Lenovo laptops, it is always featured as a pinhole.
Funnily enough, in basically every manual it is listed, but not on the T users guide from Lenovos webpage. I don't have a halfway modern laptop--there is no Novo button, no holes, nothing!
